The Conservative policy of free schools, which gives parents, teachers and governors more control over their school, has proved very popular in this constituency. Not only do free schools increase choice, they drive up standards and offer new opportunities for children. Labour have consistently opposed free schools and have said that a Labour Government would end the programme and bring schools back under government control. I do not believe that is the way forward.
"I want a first class education for our children in order to give them the best start in life. That is what I am committed to and I will continue to press for more investment in local schools and more freedoms for parents and teachers to decide how best to give our children the education they deserve."
