Local Mill Hill and Hale Ward Councillors and Matthew Offord MP are pressing for a solution that they hope will alleviate the problem of local residents being unable to park on or around Mill Hill Broadway on Saturdays, one of the busiest shopping days.
Local Mill Hill Ward Councillor Val Duschinsky commented: βOn Saturdays almost all parking bays on The Broadway are filled all day. As a result, local residents coming to shop on The Broadway by car are forced to try and park in residential roads or simply shop elsewhere. However, the Bunns Lane Car Park, just at the end of the Broadway, is always nearly empty on Saturdays. It seems obvious to me that if the Bunns Lane Car Park could be made free on Saturdays, this would reduce congestion and parking problems and encourage more people to shop locally.β
Your local MP and Councillors will be out on Mill Hill Broadway this Saturday 17th January gathering signatures from shoppers on the Broadway to ensure that this campaign has the backing of local residents and shoppers and is successful when taken to committee.
Matthew Offord MP also said: βLocal shopping centres such as Mill Hill Broadway are vital for our local communities not only to survive, but to thrive. Making it easier for residents to access businesses on Mill Hill Broadway is a campaign I fully support and I am pressing for the Council to make this a reality. I look forward to local residents benefitting from better accessibility to The Broadway and shops, cafes and restaurants benefitting from increased trade as a result of our campaign.β
Come along to Mill Hill Broadway between 10:30am and 12noon where your local MP and Councillors will be gathering signatures for the petition that will support the campaign for free parking at the Bunns Lane Car Park on Saturdays.
