Alex is a lifelong Barnet resident. He was elected as a councillor to represent West Hendon in 2018, and Hendon Ward in 2022 following changes to the ward boundaries.

On the council, Alex is the lead opposition member of the Audit committee and also sits as a member of the Policy & Resources and Housing & Growth committees. Alex is passionate about promoting Barnet’s local businesses and was the borough’s first Small Business Champion. He is also the Group Treasurer for the Barnet Conservative group.

Barnet Conservatives Slam Labour’s Screeching U-turn in Garden Waste Charge.

On the 1st November 2022 at a full council meeting, a motion was put forward by Cllr Dan Thomas which was unanimously voted on by both Labour and Conservative members to not raise the Garden Waste Charge above £70 till 2026. At the budget council meeting on the 27th of Feb, Barnet’s Labour Council pushed through changes to the planning regimen that will potentially make it harder for residents’ voices to be heard at planning.
